"I was filming in New Zealand in the winter and there was not a lot of extra curricular stuff to do," he recalls. "It was a green-screen work, and we had a lot of time trailers, so I did a lot of reading and one of the things I read was Lifeless - one of Mark Billingham's Thorne's books - and I really liked it.

"I was doing, as always, geeky way, some research and read that Mark had said that he would like me to play Thorne, if it ever came to the screen.

Morrissey has announced plans to re release Bona Drag with extra material, Morrissey celebrate the album's 20th anniversary. The original, 1990 LP compiled the best of the former Smiths frontman’s early solo work, much of which was unavailable on album. The release helped make him a solo star in the United States. Morrissey will re release a remastered version of Bona Drag, with six bonus, rare tracks. The singer has overseen the updated version of the album and directed the artwork. The Legislature has unfinished work, according to Bennington state Rep. Mary Morrissey, which is why she is seeking an eighth term in the Vermont House.
Morrissey, a Republican in the Bennington 2-2 district, said the past session presented considerable budget challenges because of the recession. Next session will feature similarly difficult budget woes. Yet, Morrissey said she is hoping to see the recovery through in an eighth term.
"I think there’s quite a bit of business that has been left undone," Morrissey said. "Each election cycle I seriously take the time to ... reassess where I am in my life and if my constituency would like me to return back. Quite honestly, this year, after coming off what was a relatively difficult session, I think I considered more kind of the good, the bad and the ugly of the session. I put my hat back in the ring to hopefully finish some of the work that needs to be done."
Morrissey said the economic downturn has led to a "real chance here to peel back the layers that government has put on" and determine how to move forward and "carve out how we’re going to serve our people, how we’re going to look at job creation and come out of what has been a very painful recession."
Lawmakers, in examining what services to provide, must also ensure that they serve Vermonters well, Morrissey said.
"I know my constituents strive to be able to really talk to someone. I know those are resources that we continue to look to cut back on and everyone will say, ‘Well, all states have.’ That’s why there needed to be an original plan. How do we see this getting done? What are the resources we need on the ground to actually serve our folks?"
Morrissey said she has concerns with Challenges for Change, an effort used by Republican Gov. James Douglas and the Legislature to make government more efficient.
Morrissey said agency commissioners and department heads should have been seeking efficiencies all along.
She said, "Efficiency and good government should be an everyday policy".
Morrissey said she would like to look the Legislature narrow the focus of legislation it passes. Lawmakers have taken to writing laws too broadly and in a way "that can be determined almost any which way you want it to be." She said constituents want to be assured that lawmakers have "done their homework" and have resources in place to pay for initiatives and laws they pass.
Helping connect constituents with people in state government who can help solve their problems has been the best part of the job, Morrissey said. "For me that’s a good day, when you’re able to make those connections or you’re able to work with someone hand in hand on issues you never, ever thought you were going to be dealing with," she said.
If re-elected, Morrissey said her constituents will continue to be her focus.
"The people are the government and I think we sometimes lose track of that. That’s what it should be about," she said. "The constituents are who I respond to. It’s not about a party. It shouldn’t be about a party."

"Following consultation with my lawyers, I wish it to be known that I have terminated with immediate effect my association with Front Line Management (Irving Azoff, Andy Gould and Lil Gary), who no longer have any rights to issue any statements on my behalf," he declared. "I would also like to stress that I have no association with accountants appointed by Front Line, namely London & Co."

Morrissey has taken aim at controversial artist DAMIEN HIRST for using dead animals in his exhibitions. Hirst, who is famous for his rotting bull and a dead tiger shark set in formaldehyde, has appalled the staunch vegetarian singer/songwriter with his art for years and now Morrissey is speaking out.

In a new article in Interview magazine, the former The Smiths star suggests Hirst should have his head "kept in a bag" for the way he uses dead animals. He says, "I dislike the 'use' of animals in art, such as in the work of Damien Hirst... Dead butterflies, cows, horses, humans, sheep and sharks - it reads like the inventory of a funerary Noah. How many halved calves suspended in formaldehyde does the world need? To my way of thinking, none."

Faber editor bids to woo Morrissey to 'the House of Eliot'

A Faber editor has written an open letter to Morrissey pleading with the singer to bring his "much-rumoured memoir to the House of Eliot".

Lee Brackstone, editorial director at Faber, wrote that it would be "the fulfilment of my most pressing and persistent publishing dream" if Morrissey were to pick Faber as the publisher of his autobiography. The singer and former frontman of the Smiths revealed in late 2008 that he would be writing his memoirs in order to "[set] the record straight", and in November an essay from his forthcoming autobiography was published in The Dark Monarch: Magic and Modernity in British Art, entitled "The Bleak Moor Lies".

Posting the open letter on Faber's company blog, Brackstone wrote that "forlorn as this hope may be, I can only fantasise that at least you might read my letter through and consider the pleasures and prestige of being an author at Faber, the last great family-owned independent publishing house in the western hemisphere".

"We love the perverse and the contrary at Faber," he continued. "And we also like to think we are the custodians of 20th-century Modernist poetry. In fact we are. Our shelves groan and bulge and spill over under the weight of Ezra, Larkin, Hughes and Heaney. And that's just the surface; deep as it may seem. We feel very strongly that you belong in this company."
Brackstone said this morning that he corresponded with Morrissey via fax around five years ago, "and he was definitely interested". "A year ago a few publishers here offered big money [for the singer's memoirs], there's been correspondence all over the place, and I'm pretty sure he's well away with it," Brackstone said. The letter, he added, was "a bit of fun, but at the same time we'd be desperately happy if it happened … It's worth a crack."

Some Morrissey fans responded positively to the post – "What a way to woo the talent, Lee, baby! You go, boy," wrote one; others described it as "a load of bum-snogging grovelling". Brackstone said he had intentionally written in "inflated, pretentious" language in an attempt to appeal to Morrissey's "more playful nature", but admitted that "there's a risk that it may just irritate him - that is if he even sees it".

After breathing problems forced to cancel two show Morrissey, the former Smiths frontman resumed his U.K. tour Tuesday night at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Morrissey, 50, fell to his knees Saturday after finishing the first song of his set in the city of Swindon and had to be carried offstage by two of his band members.
The Maladjusted crooner was hospitalized overnight for observation. On the advice of his doctors, he scrapped a gig Monday in Bournemouth so he could get some rest.
But back on his feet last night, Morrissey made light of his ailment, pretending to faint at one point before jumping back up and shouting, "Thank you, Swindon!" per the BBC.
"The doctor said I shouldn't smile. I told him, 'I don't,'" cracked the usually somber hitmaker.

Morrissey Forner Smiths singer is back on his feet again after being released from the hospital yesterday, The Associated Press reports. The singer collapsed at 50 year old on stage on Saturday, after performing 24th the opening song, "This Charming Man," at the Oasis Leisure Centre in the UK. The singer slumped to the ground at the end of the song and was carried off stage by two of his band mates. No word yet on what caused the collapse, but the singer was in stable condition and was reportedly "much improved" before his discharge. Morrissey gig tonight in Bournemouth his postponed, but that he will play tomorrow night at London's Royal Albert Hall its confirmed. His Swords tour is scheduled to continue throughout the UK and Ireland until the end of November.

Judge A. Kirke Bartley told jurors Monday to "hang in there" as unhurriedness stretched into a stressful eighth full day. One female juror appeared tearful in the Manhattan courtroom.
Bartley urged jurors to be "respectful" with one another.
Jurors went the night5 for home. It wasn't clear instantly what had sparked dissonance. The the note the jurors had sent him, judge did not say and sealed.

For email-pal Johnny Marr's sake, let's hope Morrissey has a smart phone, because the King of Mope is hitting the road this fall/winter in support of his upcoming release: Swords, a new B-sides compilation out Nov. 3.
The upcoming release was curated by the legendary singer himself, who collected the disc's eighteen songs from the singles released for his past four albums: Years of Refusal (2009), Greatest Hits (2008), Ringleader Of The Tormentors (2006), and You Are The Quarry (2004). Songs include "Munich Air Disaster 1958," which finds Moz reflecting on the notorious plane crash that killed 21 passengers, including seven Manchester United soccer players, a live cover of David Bowie's "Drive-In Saturday," and "Shame is the Name," featuring Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders on back-up vocals.
As an extra for hardcore Smiths fans, this first pressing of Swords will include a bonus disc of eight live tracks from a concert in Warsaw in July 2009, including a rendition of the Smiths' "You Just Haven't Earned It Yet, Baby," originally released on another B-sides compilation, 1986's The World Won't Listen.

NEW YORK (AP) — The jury in the criminal trial over the will of late philanthropist Brooke Astor is scheduled to resume deliberations Wednesday.
Astor's son, Anthony Marshall, and estate lawyer Francis X. Morrissey are accused in an 18-count indictment of exploiting her mental decline to plunder millions of dollars from her estate, estimated at $198 million.
Marshall faces a maximum 25 years in prison if he's convicted of the most dangerous charges of first-degree grand thievery.
Prosecutors say Marshall pressured Astor into selling a painting for $10 million and pocketed a $2 million commission. They say he also gave himself a $1.4 million retroactive raise for managing his mother's finances.
Astor was 105 and suffering from Alzheimer's when she died in 2007.

Morrissey Fabulous resurrection

FASHION designer Peter Morrissey believes the brain aneurism that almost killed him seven weeks ago happened for a reason.
After his surgery, Morrissey's twin sister and four brothers all had MRI scans. It was discovered his brother Chris, a doctor married to singer Marcia Hines, had an unruptured aneurism.
Chris then had a procedure to repair it. Morrissey wouldn't reveal more details out of respect for his brother's privacy but said he was now in a stable condition.
''I exist a brain aneurism and now I've saved my brother's life. It was worth it,'' Morrissey said. ''My brother is in hospital now and we were just laughing and comparing how much catheters hurt.''
But it wasn't a laughing matter seven weeks ago. Morrissey said it was touch and go.
''I was on 24-hour see for nine days in hard care. They were troubled I could have had a stroke. I had to learn to walk again. The intensive care nurses said not many people who are in intensive care for nine days survive.''
But he has been given the all clear and has spent the past month resting and having physiotherapy.
''It changed my life in that I have a higher admiration of my family and my partner, Sean, a higher admiration of nurses and a higher admiration of the medical system.''
Morrissey's life has been full of ups and downs.
''I'm a miniseries the bust up with Leona [Edmiston], my parents dying, losing the rights to my name … this health scare is just another climactic turn in the script. I believe everything happens for a reason. It's not bad luck - it's a wonderful lesson,'' he said.
He said he had been overwhelmed with support. ''The public have been amazing. I go into the chemist and people say, 'Oh, you're alive?' … Barry Humphries sent me an email from Texas, saying, 'I believe you've had a fabulous resurrection.' ''
Morrissey has joined forces with Bruno Schiavi to launch a collection in stores across Australia and the US. They will launch in Big W stores nationally on October 22. ''I've been criticised for going mass market and I just say I good if Madonna feels that when she sells 600 million albums,'' he said. ''The top price of a dress in Big W is $59. It's socially correct to make suitably priced clothes so people can fashion their lives.''
He also plans to give back to the medical teams who saved his life.

TV star Neil Morrissey has become the latest victim of the credit compaction, falling millions of pounds into arrears after a business scheme he invested in collapsed.

The actor, best known for playing loveable damn fool Tony in BBC hit Men Behaving Badly, told News Of The World he lost £2.5m when his hotel chances failed.
"It was a mess," Morrissey said. "There I was, doing very well, bandied around as the successful actor. Then I found myself completely in schtuck.
"All of a sudden everyone needs their money back. A lot of banks needed to recall, and surely review, the nature of the loans."
Morrissey's company, set up five years ago, bought pubs and hotels across the country, including Brown's Hotel in Laugharne and Hurst House in Covent Garden.
It break down after a series of ventures failed to perform, forcing Morrissey's business partner into bankruptcy.
"No one is untouchable. This can happen to anyone," Morrissey warned.

Morrissey has requested that fans don't buy any of the approaching box set reissues from his back catalogue.The former Smiths singer claimed in a statement issued to fan site True-to-you.net, which he often annonunce through, that he wouldn't receive any money from the reissues, released on November 2, and that he was not asked for acceptance for their release.

The Morrissey reissues will see singles and B-sides re-packaged as new seven-inch vinyl releases."Morrissey would like it to be known that he has not been refered by EMI/HMV/Parlophone [record labels, and not the retailer] with regards to two approaching boxed sets of Morrissey singles," the message read.It continued: "Morrissey does not accept such releases and would ask people not to bother buying them. Morrissey receives no payments from EMI for any back catalogue, and has not received a commission from EMI since 1992.

According to some news, Morrissey has declared that he will perform a one concert at the Liverpool Echo Arena on November 7.

This event will be the last gig of the former Smiths singer's 2009 tour.

This is a discography for the English alternative rock singer Morrissey. Steven Patrick Morrissey, generally called as Morrissey, is a british singer and lyricist. He was born in Davyhulme, Greater Manchester on May 22, 1959.

He was the lead singer of The Smiths, one of the most powerful alternative bands in the 1980s. The band broken up in 1987 and Morrissey began a flourishing solo career.

Morrissey is often well-known as one of the key pop lyricists of his generation, with many following artists hailing his influence. Themes on which he has touched include child murder, gang violence, domestic violence, prostitution, racism, drug use, homosexuality, disability, assassination, and terrorism. Unrequited love and a festivity of the outsider are a constant theme throughout his work.

His first solo album was launched in 1988 and was entitled Viva hate. It was followed by Bona Drag (1990), Kill Uncle (1991), the Mick Ronson-produced Your Arsenal (1992), a live album Beethoven Was Deaf (1993), Vauxhall and I (1994), Southpaw Grammar (1995) and Maladjusted (1997).
Morrissey also recorded a one-off single with the singer Siouxsie : they both sang in duet on Interlude.

A age of musical immobility followed in the late 90s and early 2000s, which was due to breakdown in finding a appropriate label, according to a 2004 meeting with Jools Holland. After seven years without a new album launch, You Are the Quarry was launched on May 17, 2004 (but one day later in the USA). The first single, Irish Blood, English Heart, was launched globally on May 10, 2004. The single arrived at number three in its first week of sales in the UK singles chart.
